LONDON, A tourist shop at Piccadilly Circus. OK, so we all know that tourist shops sell over-prized crap. However, the marketing video of the MAGIC BUBBLES just reminded me why I always felt misplaced in this world as a child. Watching television was partly responsible for my overall lacking respect for adults. I was always wondering why they are trying to brainwash people with such an obvious low-key strategy and then I concluded they must be brainwashed, too. And they spread the disease: “Bubbles here, bubbles there, bubbles everywhere!”

LONDON, Mr. Start S/S 12 Presentation. The last day of London Fashion Week led us into Mr. Start´s redefinition of French girls in a masculine way. At St. Martins Lane Hotel, Philip Start showcased his S/S 12 menswear collection in a totally felicitous real time installation. Buyers and journalists could examine lightweight cotton and linen fabrics, softly tailored cuts and the overall visual appearance of the designs in an authentic, yet surreal museum-kind-of approach. The designer´s colour palette includes khaki, stone, sand and indigo, as well as an updated classic collection of greys and blues. The show was acoustically accompanied by Bolivian Baroque, recognising the plight of the rainforests. With his refreshing and inspiring presentation style, Philip Start undelined his contemporary and forward looking point of view. Just as effortlessly as the look of his creations, the designer took the time for a little chat with us to characterize his work: “It is all about a fashionable elegance, which is being shown in an easy, yet sophisticated way.” Start was inspired by the peachiness of French girls, also sharing that “not many people know that my main theme is architecture. I am totally into the effortless simplicity of modern buildings.”

LONDON, Berwick Street. At Somerset House, Rosi and I bumped into our MA Fashion Media Production mate Stella, who recommended us to check out BANG BANG Vintage Store in Soho. We went there, right before seeing the Mr. Start S/S 12 Presentation at St. Martins Lane Hotel and found a beautiful sequined jacket from Idol and an unbranded turquoise chiffon skirt with a unique leather waistband. BANG BANG sells handpicked designer labels next to high street second-pieces in a totally pleasant ambience. The best thing is, they are my neighbours. See you tomorrow, ladies!

LONDON, Somerset House. London Fashion Week day VI and there are still beautiful things to discover that are more than just beautiful: Stop Magazine, for example. Our Fashion Journalism peers from LCF made the effort and put together a unique fashion and lifestyle publication which they gave away to all the superb-looking fashionistas and industry professionals in and around Somerset House. And even on LFW day number 6 they keep the smile on their pretty faces: Stop Magazine´s Editor-in-Chief Angelica Pursley and Fashion Director Hannah Newman.

LONDON, My Beautiful Fashion. Today, London Fashion Week reveled in UNCONDITIONAL, as Philip Stephens presented its S/S 2012 in a salon runway show, produced by “My Beautiful City”. Muted tones were followed by strong signal colours, just before returning to more contrasting shades in terra, black and white. With his slick combination of colours and fabrics, the designer proved his craft to create looks, which flatter male and female in the same way. Stephens brilliantly teamed up with super talented Una Burke who gave his creations an accessory leathern finish. After the show, Stephens (who by the way is really friendly, down-to-earth and just radiates genuine charm) told us that he took his inspiration from a Mancunian´s Midsummer Night´s Dream. “There were different sections within the dream,” he smirked, hinting at the variety of the show, which included a precollection UNCONDITIONAL made this season that was also showcased on the catwalk.

AUSTRA, you got me addicted! Soundtrack of the day: “Beat And The Pulse (Kool Thing Remix)”
LONDON, Carnaby Street. When you go out to linger along the streets, basically everything can happen …
After bumping into stylist and Editor-in-Chief of Pigeons and Peacocks John William, who immediately agreed on being videoportrayed forTHE LOVESTREET, I was lucky to spot and film student Rosa, dancers Chris&Carlton and model Tom. As a prelude to London Fashion Week, Carnaby Catwalk featured the looks of AW 11 right on the street today. Curated by stylists Sarah Owen, Nova Dando and John William, the show presented clothes available in Carnaby stores, so you could buy your favourite looks straight from the catwalk. What a fresh approach to celebrate fashion with the people who wear it where they buy it! Of course I filmed the show for some spicy special content for THE LOVESTREET. A great day out, thank you all!!
Fashion on the street, we ♥ it!
